Why this corner of the Dordogne

Most visitors head for the honeypots around Sarlat in the east. We are in the quieter western Dordogne, where the vineyards of Bergerac run into those of Bordeaux, the bastide villages have markets instead of coach parks, and the river is wide and calm. Bergerac airport is 25 minutes away, Bordeaux is a day trip, and you can be at a Saint-Émilion wine estate in 45 minutes. The house itself is on a lane between fields and woods, with a boulangerie 10 minutes away and a supermarket 15.

Stay at Chez Le Vigneron
