Your questions, answered

How many people can stay at Chez Le Vigneron?

Up to 14 guests when you rent the Main House and Le Gîte together. The Main House sleeps up to 10 in 4 bedrooms (one double master suite, one double, one room with four single beds and one more double). Le Gîte sleeps up to 4 in 2 bedrooms. Outside July and August you can also rent the Main House on its own.

Is the swimming pool private and when is it open?

Yes. The 11 m by 5 m pool is for our guests only and sits in the fenced grounds overlooking the valley. It is open from roughly May to the end of September, depending on the weather. It is not heated.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 16:00 and check-out by 10:00. In high season changeover day is Saturday. If you arrive late, let us know and we will arrange the keys.

Are pets welcome?

Well-behaved dogs are welcome on request, and the grounds are fully fenced. Please mention your dog when you book so we can confirm.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes, fast Starlink satellite Wi-Fi covers both houses and the terraces. It is good enough for video calls and streaming, so a few days of remote working is no problem.

Are bed linen and towels included?

Bed linen, bath towels and kitchen towels are included. Please bring your own pool towels.

Is the house suitable for young children?

Yes. We have a travel cot and a high chair, a playroom with books and games, and plenty of lawn for football and table tennis. The pool and the pond are not fenced separately, so children need supervision outside, as in any French countryside house.

What is included in the price?

The nightly rate covers the house, linen, towels, Wi-Fi, use of the pool and grounds, the summer kitchen and the gas BBQ. A cleaning fee and the local tourist tax are added per stay, and a refundable deposit is held until after check-out. You see the full amount before you pay.

How do I pay and is my payment secure?

You book directly with us on this website. A 30% prepayment confirms the booking and the balance is due 8 weeks before arrival. Payments are handled by Stripe, so we never see your card details. iDEAL, credit and debit cards are accepted.

What is the nearest airport?

Bergerac Dordogne Périgord Airport (EGC) is about 25 minutes by car, with direct flights from the UK, the Netherlands and Belgium in season. Bordeaux Mérignac (BOD) is about 1 hour 15 minutes and has year-round connections. We recommend hiring a car; the house is in the countryside.

Can we reach the house by train?

Yes. Sainte-Foy-la-Grande station is 15 minutes away on the Bordeaux to Bergerac and Sarlat line. From Paris, take the TGV to Bordeaux Saint-Jean (about 2 hours) and the regional train from there. A taxi from the station can be arranged.

How far is the nearest shop or bakery?

The nearest boulangerie is about 10 minutes away and a full supermarket is 15 minutes away. Weekly markets in Sainte-Foy-la-Grande (Saturday), Eymet (Thursday) and Bergerac (Wednesday and Saturday) are all within 25 minutes.

Is there air conditioning and heating?

The attic bedrooms of the Main House have air conditioning. The thick stone walls keep the ground floor cool in summer, and there is central heating plus a woodburner for the cooler months. Both houses are comfortable year-round.

Can we have two families share the house?

That is exactly what it is designed for. The Main House and Le Gîte are separate buildings around the same pool and gardens, so two families or a group of friends each get their own kitchen, bathrooms and terrace while sharing the pool, the summer kitchen and the evenings together.
