Getting Here

By air

Bergerac Dordogne Périgord (EGC) is 25 minutes from the house. In season there are direct flights from London Stansted, Bristol, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Southampton and other UK airports, from Rotterdam and Amsterdam, and from Brussels Charleroi. Car hire desks are in the terminal; book ahead in July and August.

Bordeaux Mérignac (BOD) is about 75 minutes and flies year-round to most European cities, including Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, Munich, London Gatwick and Heathrow, Dublin and Paris. The A89 motorway brings you most of the way to Sainte-Foy-la-Grande.

Toulouse (2 h 30) and Limoges (2 h) are options when fares are better.

By train

The nearest station is Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, 15 minutes from the house, on the Bordeaux to Bergerac and Sarlat line. From Paris Montparnasse the TGV reaches Bordeaux Saint-Jean in about 2 hours; the regional TER to Sainte-Foy takes another hour. From Amsterdam or Brussels, Eurostar and TGV via Paris take around 7 to 8 hours door to door. We can book a taxi for the last 15 minutes or you can hire a car in Bordeaux.

By car

Distances are to Monfaucon and assume motorway with tolls.

From Distance Driving time
Calais (Eurotunnel / ferry) 790 km about 7 h 30
Paris 580 km about 5 h 30
Brussels 870 km about 8 h 30
Utrecht / Amsterdam 1,000 km about 10 h
Cologne 980 km about 9 h 30
Frankfurt 1,100 km about 10 h 30

From the north the route is Paris, then the A10 to Bordeaux and the A89 east towards Libourne and Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, or the A20 via Limoges and Périgueux, which is quieter and avoids Paris. Many Dutch and German guests break the journey with a night near Orléans or Tours, or in the Loire. Tolls from Calais to the house are roughly 70 euros each way. Motorway service areas are good; the last supermarket before the house is in Sainte-Foy-la-Grande.

Finding the house

Use 485 Chemin du Vigneron, 24130 Monfaucon in your sat nav. The lane leaves the village road and the house is the last one before the woods, with the vineyards opposite. We send detailed directions and the gate code with your booking confirmation.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need a car?

Yes, or at least we strongly recommend one. The house is on a country lane; the bakery is 10 minutes away and the supermarket 15. Car hire is available at Bergerac and Bordeaux airports and at Bordeaux Saint-Jean station.

What time can we arrive?

Check-in is from 16:00. If your flight lands earlier, drop your luggage and have lunch in Bergerac or Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, or go straight to the pool if the house is ready; just ask.

Is there an electric car charger?

There is no dedicated charger at the house yet, but you can charge slowly from a normal socket overnight. Fast chargers are at the supermarkets in Sainte-Foy-la-Grande and Bergerac.
